Worldwide Chat - Scam Detector is a browser extension that adds a live chat to every website you visit, with an automatic scam/risk check. This policy explains what data is handled, why, and for how long. It applies to the extension and to the chat service it connects to (chat.lasthopelabs.com).

1. What we collect and why

• The hostname of the website you are viewing (for example example.com). It is used only to select the chat room for that site.
• The page path (for example example.com/products/iphone-15) when you create or join a room for a specific page, and to run the automatic risk check. That check runs in four stages on our server: a scam list, a small URL model, an analysis of the publicly reachable page, and external reputation services. The server loads the public page itself, so the extension never reads or sends page content. The result is a risk percentage shown on the bubble. Query strings and URL fragments are never sent or stored.
• Chat messages you send, together with your display name (or a random identifier if you do not set one). They are delivered to other people connected to the same site's room.
• A random identifier (SID) generated locally by the extension and stored in your browser. It keeps your identity and message history consistent across visits. It cannot be linked to your name, email, or IP address by other users.

2. Where data is stored

• Chat history is stored on the WWC server (hosted in the European Union) for the last 1 000 messages per website room. Older messages are automatically discarded.
• Aggregate usage statistics (number of connections and messages per hour) are kept for 90 days and then deleted. They contain no personal data.
• Risk check results are grouped by site name only (hostname, never per user) to publish how many sites have been checked.
• Your SID and settings stay in your browser's own extension storage and are never uploaded elsewhere.

3. What we do NOT do

• No advertising, no trackers, no analytics scripts.
• No sale, rent, or sharing of any data with third parties.
• No collection of your browsing history across sites, no search queries, no credentials, no page content. The extension sends only the hostname and path of the page you are on, to run the chat room and the risk check.
• We do not build profiles of users across websites; chat rooms are isolated per website and per page.

4. Your choices and deletion

• You can uninstall the extension at any time; your local data is removed with it.
• You can clear the messages you sent by asking a chat moderator, or by contacting us (below) with your SID.
• Server-side message history for a room can be deleted by the site's administrator at any time.
